Some general information before we go into the recipes:
If you are intending to massage your aromatherapy oils you will need carrier oil. There are various types on the market all for different reasons.
For example:
If you are prone to acne then you will want gentle carrier oil such as grape seed or jojoba.
If you suffer with eczema or other skin complaints then try using sweet almond, evening primrose, jojoba or even olive oil.
Calendula is great carrier oil for rubbing over scars and stretch marks.
Comfrey oil and Rosemary are gentle enough for healing cuts, bruises, burns and stings.
It is recommended that you use two drops of essential oils to one teaspoon of carrier oil. If you are doing a full body massage you will need about 1-2 ounces of carrier oil.
There are hundreds of different recipes for all types of conditions so it really is about the one that appeals to you most and works for you.
Most of these recipes can be used as massage, in the bath or in a room diffuser. If you follow the general pattern in all recipes as follows:
In the bath:
2 ounces of carrier oil to 15-20 drops essential oils. Mix well in an amber coloured bottle.
Massage oil:
1 ounce carrier oil to 8-10 drops essential oils.
Diffuser:
A total of 20 drops of essential oils as per recipes and follow instructions for the diffusers.
Air Freshener:
Using a 4oz spray bottle with fine mist add 30-40 drops of your essential oil mix to 1.5 ounces of distilled water and 1.5 ounces of high proof alcohol for example vodka. This may be omitted and use 3 ounces of distilled water. The alcohol helps the aroma to last longer.
